WoW Forever Professions Ranked by Combat Benefits and Practical Use with IGGM

After choosing your race and class, the professions in WoW Forever also deserve careful consideration. They can influence everything from how you earn gold to your overall experience when farming mobs in the open world.

Although WoW Forever is based on Classic Vanilla, there is no guarantee that the same items and materials will remain in high demand. Here at IGGM.com, we will not focus too heavily on the economy. Instead, we will prioritize character power and practical gameplay benefits.

Campfire System

The development team is heavily promoting Campfire System, with Cooking serving as its core and soul. Cooks can craft campfires of different levels, each offering varying numbers of buffs or utility features. Every profession except Engineering provides a campfire buff, while Engineering offers utility features such as vendors and repair bots.

These campfire buffs essentially serve as alternatives to class buffs, but they can coexist with other buffs. They may even be useful in raids, functioning similarly to WoW Forever World Buffs.

Secondary Professions

Fishing

Fishing does not directly improve your character’s combat power, but the development team has added plenty of content to it, potentially making it a popular profession in the future.

Fishing allows you to catch squid and turn it into oil, which serves as an important ingredient for Flask of the Titans, armor potions, and other consumables. However, fishing bots are quite common, so IGGM.com believes this profession is unlikely to make you rich.

Cooking

Cooking is the core of Campfire System. Although it offers no passive combat bonuses, food is in extremely high demand while leveling because almost every player will want to maintain full uptime on the 5% experience bonus provided by Cookie’s Feast.

First Aid

WoW Forever First Aid remains important because it provides access to bandages, healing items, and ways to remove poison. Its campfire buff grants additional Stamina.

Gathering Professions

Mining

Mining’s exclusive talent is called Made of Metal, which increases your total health by 5%. This is a direct boost to character power, making it particularly useful for PvP characters.

Its campfire buff is Blessing of Might, which grants 90 Melee Attack Power and is especially helpful for melee characters.

Herbalism

Herbalism provides Natural Talent, which is reportedly capable of increasing your resistance to all schools of magic. Depending on how it stacks with racial abilities such as Orc racial and spells like Molten Armor, it could make your character exceptionally resilient against magical damage.

Herbalism is worth considering for PvP or resistance-focused tank builds, and it is generally more profitable than Mining. Its campfire buff is Incense Candle, which has an effect similar to a Mage’s Arcane Intellect.

Skinning

Skinning provides a 5% damage bonus against Beasts and Dragons. IGGM.com considers this passive effect relatively weak and not particularly worthwhile.

Skinning’s campfire buff slightly increases critical strike chance. Overall, neither benefit is especially appealing, so relatively few players may choose this profession. However, leather could become more valuable as a result.

Crafting Professions

Alchemy

Alchemy makes potions and flasks last longer and increases their effectiveness. It also allows you to upgrade Philosopher’s Stone.

Its campfire buff is Blessing of Wisdom, and Alchemy allows you to place a Fermenter and an Alchemy Lab in your camp. Alchemy has traditionally been a strong profession for generating WoW Classic Plus gold, making it a solid choice for consistent earnings.

You can also place a Mana Well in your camp to grant mana regeneration to party members resting near the campfire. This is useful for caster groups, although it is not an especially powerful core combat buff.

Blacksmithing

Blacksmiths can obtain four tiers of stat-enhancing belt buckles, with each tier providing stronger effects. These buckles allow you to add sockets to your own belts and insert gems, potentially making this a powerful passive bonus.

Blacksmithing also allows you to repair all your equipment once every eight hours, with the cooldown reduced to four hours at Rank 2. You can place an Anvil and a Forge in your camp.

Its campfire buff increases Strength, granting approximately 36 Strength even at Rank 1. Furthermore, if you can obtain some rare recipes early on, you may be able to earn a substantial amount of WoW Forever gold.

Tailoring

Tailoring allows you to embroider your own cloak, granting bonuses to Spell Power, Attack Power, or Stamina. There are five tiers that progressively improve these effects. Tailors can also obtain additional cloth from humanoid enemies.

Its campfire buff is Divine Spirit, which grants nearby players additional Spirit. This effect does not stack with a Priest’s Divine Spirit.

Enchanting

Enchanting allows you to permanently enhance your own rings with combat bonuses to Attack Power, Spell Power, or Stamina. These effects grow stronger with each tier. This could be the preferred profession for players seeking to maximize their character’s performance, as its bonuses may be slightly stronger than those provided by belt buckles or cloak enchantments.

Enchanters can place an Enchanting Lute in their camp, granting nearby players a combination of armor, all attributes, and resistances. This effect does not stack with a Druid’s Mark of the Wild, making Enchanting a less appealing choice for Druids.

Enchanting generally makes it easy to earn a little extra gold, but intense competition may limit your overall earnings. If you are short on gold, IGGM has plenty of cheap WoW Forever gold for sale.

Engineering

Engineering does not provide a direct passive combat bonus, but it remains almost a mandatory profession because of how powerful its gadgets have historically been in Classic WoW. Its various devices can turn the tide of battle.

Engineering has no campfire buff of its own, but it allows you to place a Reagent Bot, Repair Bot, and Anarchist Workbench in your camp. These utilities are extremely useful when adventuring in the open world.

Leatherworking

Leatherworking allows you to craft exclusive Bracer Kits that provide Attack Power, Spell Power, or Stamina. Their strength is roughly comparable to that of belt buckles and cloak enchantments.

Leatherworking also allows you to place a Camp Tent in your camp, granting players resting near the campfire a Rested XP bonus of up to 5% of their current level. However, this buff is not particularly powerful.

Overall, IGGM.com considers Engineering an exceptionally strong choice for both PvP and PvE, while Skinning’s benefits are relatively underwhelming. If your primary goal is to earn gold, Herbalism may be a better option.
