6 Japanese kanji fonts were recently added in the Google Fonts Directory and announced August 23rd on Twitter.

- The full M PLUS font family includes 4 fonts with proportional Latin, 3 with fixed-halfwidth Latin, and 2 with fixed-fullwidth Japanese Kana variations.

Kosugi

- Kosugi is a Gothic sans-serif with low stroke contrast and monospaced metrics. It was designed for beauty and readability, and evokes the Japanese cedar trees that have straight and thick trunks and branches. Originally named “MotoyaLCedar W3 mono”, it is now available under the name Kosugi.

Sawarabi Gothic

- Sawarabi Gothic (さわらびゴシック) was designed for great legibility, it works well in small text sizes. Already includes many hiragana, katakana, ruled lines, and so on, but not yet have enough kanji glyphs.
- Includes 6,945 glyphs, but only 4,469 kanji are available in this version. The project is under active development.
